The hot and dry forests and the presence of Mediterranean flora
The oak forests near the gypsum outcrops, featuring mainly short and twisted tree forms, alternate with stretches of scrubland, especially broom. These areas, which have a particularly hot and dry microclimate, are inhabited by typical Mediterranean plant species, such as the mock privet, Italian buckthorn and holly oak.
